Our Senior Developers are part of a great team who support the business with the software development for their current projects. A deep understanding of all stages of digital development is as essential as an understanding of the part each developer plays and how it contributes to the end product. Senior developers thrive on new challenges and are never intimidated by something unfamiliar to them. They are passionate about their work and gain genuine enjoyment from seeing projects through, from start to finish

Responsibilities of the role

  • Generating ideas with team members and offering insightful solutions
  • Taking responsibility for all development work and ownership of thorough quality control
  • Modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces.
  • Overseeing system testing and validation procedures.
  • Consulting with departments or customers on project status and proposals.
  • Working with customers or departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance, selling ideas with confidence
  • Analysing information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications of an existing system.
  • Pro-actively reviewing the systems and consulting with engineering staff to evaluate software hardware interfaces and develop specifications and performance requirements.
  • Designing and developing software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and design consequences.
  • Preparing reports on programming project specifications, activities, or status.
  • Staying up to date with new technology and teaching other developers how to incorporate new trends

Success Measures

  • Pro-actively reviewing development and delivery activity to identify improvements to processes, services, metrics and infrastructure to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. Having complete ownership
  • Anticipating needs with solutions delivered to the busines for issues which they didn’t know they needed or had.

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of software development and its technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Javascript, C++, PHP, and SQL.
  • Solid experience in coding.
  • Strong knowledge of user interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and web frameworks

The personal capabilities needed to excel in this role

  • Fluency in digital languages such as JavaScript, CSS and HTML as standard, ideally expertise in additional languages
  • The confidence to express ideas as part of the Engineering team
  • A clear and genuine interest in technological trends
  • Logical, structured and outside the box thinking
  • Great attention to detail
  • Strong communicator, sharing sprint progress to SCRUM team
  • Self-starter, with a natural enthusiasm and desire to learn
  • Comfortable working as part of a team, as well as independently, developing effective relationships

Qualifications and other requirements

  • Degree in information technology, computer science, or related.
